Adding delays to flows in Yotpo SMS & Email helps you manage when messages are sent, making it more likely they'll reach customers at the best time of day or week. This can improve engagement by aligning messages with your customers' routines and preferences, enhancing the effectiveness of your marketing efforts.

In this article, you’ll learn how to add delays to flows.

        How it works

Delays are used to control the timing of actions, allowing you to schedule when specific steps occur. When you configure a delay, you can choose an interval in minutes, hours, or days. Additionally, you can select particular days of the week and times of day for the delay to end, ensuring that actions are performed at optimal moments.

For example, if a customer places an order on Friday, but it won’t be shipped until Monday, you can delay the 'Your order has been shipped' email. By setting a delay in your flow, the customer will receive the shipping confirmation on Monday when the order is actually on its way, ensuring accurate and timely communication.

        Important:

All steps that occur after the delay will be executed according to the customer’s time zone.

Adding a delay to a flow

To add a delay to a new flow:

        1. In your Yotpo SMS & Email main menu, go to Flows > My Flows and click Create flow.

        2. Select a trigger and start building your flow.

        3. Click +Add step, select Add action, and choose Add delay from the list of actions.

The delay is added to your flow. You’re now ready to set it up.

        Configuring delay settings

        To configure a delay’s settings:

        1. From the Delay Interval drop-down menu, select the desired unit and enter a whole number value.

          Please note:

Delays can range from 1 minute to 7 days.

        2. Select the day(s) of the week when the next action will occur.

        3. Choose the time of the day when the next action will take place.

After you complete the setup, you can continue customizing your flow or click Save and exit the flow builder.
