The easiest and fastest way to boost your subscription sales, and grow subscribers, is to offer more of your products on a subscription basis.

In this article, you'll learn how to allow your customers to subscribe to more of their favorite products.

    How it works

Subscription plans allow you to offer as many products as you like on a subscription basis.

You can either add all the products you want to offer as subscriptions to one plan, or create multiple plans for different products. It all depends on the delivery options and discounts you want to offer for each product. Learn more about subscription plans.

Once you add a product to one of your plans, it will be available to shoppers on that product's product page, both as a regular one-time purchase, and on a subscription basis (every 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, etc.). Learn more about the subscription experience for your shoppers.

    Please note:
Each plan is defined by a set of delivery frequencies and discounts. Select the plan based on the delivery frequencies and discounts you want to offer on the products you're adding. You can always create a new plan with different delivery frequencies and/or discounts. Learn more about creating new plans.

    Before you start

Before you add more subscription products to your store, you need to have at least one active subscription plan.

In order to create and launch your first subscription plan, you need to first complete your initial setup. This will guide you through the setup of your first plan, and the launch of your first subscription product.

    Please note:
If you have draft products in Shopify, they will not be available in Yotpo Subscriptions. You can only add active Shopify products to your subscription plans.

    Adding subscription products

Products are added differently depending on which type of plan you've created. To learn more about plan types, visit Managing Subscription Plans.

    Subscribe and save

To add subscription products to a calendar-based SKU swaps plan:

    1. In your Yotpo Subscriptions main menu, go to Plans.
    2. Select the subscribe and save plan you want to add products to.
    3. Below the Products section, select + add/remove products. You'll see a list with all your active Shopify products.
    4. Choose the products you want to add to your plan. You can choose as many as you want.
    5. Click Save changes in the top right corner of the page.
    6. Click Update plan to save.

    Prepaid

To add subscription products to a prepaid plan:

    1. In your Yotpo Subscriptions main menu, go to Plans.
    2. Select the prepay and save plan you want to add products to.
    3. Below the Products section, select + add/remove products. You'll see a list with all your active Shopify products.
      Please note:
You should create separate products for prepaid plans. For example, if you have a product with a one-time cost of $10, create a duplicate product in Shopify with a price of $30 or less for a prepaid plan that delivers monthly and is billed every 3 months. We suggest giving this product a name that reflects the time period, such as "3-Month Club."
    4. Choose the products you want to add to your plan.
    5. Click Save changes in the top right corner of the page.
    6. Click Update plan to save.

    Calendar-based SKU swaps

To add subscription products to a subscribe to save plan:

    1. In your Yotpo Subscriptions main menu, go to Plans.
    2. Select the SKU swap plan you want to add products to.
    3. Scroll down to the Delivery frequency section and select whether you want to deliver products Monthly or Quarterly.
    4. If you haven't already, add a Parent product. This is the product that will represent the subscription and control the price.
    Important:
To prevent the parent product from being selected as a one-time purchase, open Shopify and go to Product Page > Purchase Option and mark the checkbox labeled "Only show this product with these purchase options."

        5. Click +Add product on the month or quarter you want to add products to.
        6. Choose the products you want to add. Currently, you can add one per month/quarter.
    7. Click Update plan to save.

    Hiding one-time purchase options

By default, subscription products are available as both one-time purchases and as subscription purchases. To hide the one-time purchase option, and make the product available only as a subscription:

    1. In your Shopify main menu, open the Product page.
    2. Scroll down to Purchase options.
    3. Mark the checkbox labeled "Only show this product with these purchase options."

    Next steps

The product pages for the products you've added will now include the product page widget that allows customers to purchase these products on a subscription basis and get the discount you've offered. Learn more about your subscriptions store appearance.
