    The Adjust Points Balance button is one of the customer actions you can take. Using the Adjust Points Balance button can have unintended consequences. It is possible to manually adjust points without using the "Adjust Points Balance" Button. Find out below when it's right to use the button, and when you should adjust points balance using a different method.

    Deciding how to adjust points

    Correcting a mistake

    Mistakes may come from campaigns that weren't paused on time or on-site interface issues. 

    In this case, you might want to either add or deduct points. This will affect both the current point balance and total point balance, which in turn will also affect the customer’s VIP Tier status. 

    To correct the point balance, use the 'Adjust Points Balance' button

    This action could impact the customer’s total point balance and VIP Tier status.

    Give customer points as a rewardYou can choose to reward your customers with points as you see fit. To do so, use the 'Adjust Points Balance' button

    Deducting points for a used discountIf a customer used a coupon code without redeeming points, it is not recommended to use the adjust points balance button, as it may cause the customer to lose their VIP Tier status.

    How to deduct points without affecting their VIP status:

    1. Create or use an existing coupon under Rewards -> Redeeming Points
    2. Click on the "Give Reward" button and select the relevant coupon
    3. Select "Yes" to deduct the points from the customer's account
    4. Go to the discounts page on your e-commerce platform and disable the relevant coupon
    Rewarding the customer with a discount
    A possible use case is when a customer tried to redeem a coupon and was unable to do so due to issues with the redemption process.
    In this case, it is not recommended to use the adjust points balance button, as it may cause the customer to lose their VIP Tier status.
    How to adjust points without affecting their VIP status: redeem points on behalf of a customer and then add a usable coupon to their account.

    To do so:

    1. Create or use an existing coupon under Rewards -> Redeeming Points2. Click on the "Give Reward" button and select the relevant coupon
    2. Choose the relevant option: Yes - deduct points from the customer's point balance for this couponNo- reward the customer with a "free" coupon without deducting any points
    3. Choose the relevant option:

      Yes - deduct points from the customer's point balance for this coupon
      No - reward the customer with a "free" coupon without deducting any points

    'Adjust Points Action' button

    Important:
    The adjusting points button affects both the current point balance and total point balance, which can cause unintentional effects (on VIP tiers for example.)

    After you click the button a popup will appear with two fields:

    1. The Point Adjustment Amount is the number of points that you'd like to give (or take away from the customer). Enter in a positive number to add points (5) to the account, and a negative number to deduct points (-5).
    2. In the Reason/History Entry field, enter a reason as to why you're changing the customer's
      points balance.
