    Goals and Outcomes

Smart Sending allows you to set a specified time frame to prevent you from spamming recipients by sending marketing messages too close together. Smart Sending hours can be adjusted separately for text messages and emails.

In this article, you’ll learn how to configure the Smart Sending settings.

    Smart Sending Overview

    Accessing Smart Sending

To access the Smart Sending settings:

    1. In your Yotpo SMS & Email main menu, go to Settings > General Settings.

    2. Open the Compliance tab and scroll to the Smart Sending section.

    Configuring Smart Sending

Smart Sending is activated by default. We recommend an 8-hour period between marketing messages. However, you can change it for special occasions, such as holiday campaigns, between a range of 1 to 72 hours, or turn off the feature completely.

    Important:

Customers will continue receiving transactional messages during the Smart Sending period. To learn more about the difference between marketing and transactional messages, see Transactional Messages FAQ.

With Smart Sending, you have two options for when the sending period will be triggered: the system can either take into account only when marketing messages were sent, or it can consider both marketing and transactional messages.

Let’s look at an example where the Smart Sending period is set to 8 hours.

If the Apply Smart Sending for marketing texts/emails only checkbox is marked, the Smart Sending period will be triggered by marketing messages only. In this case, if the last marketing message was sent at 10:00, the next marketing message can be delivered at 18:00.

If the Apply Smart Sending for marketing texts/emails only is not marked, the Smart Sending period can be triggered by both marketing and transactional messages. For instance, if the last message (marketing OR transactional) was sent at 10:00, the next marketing message can be delivered at 18:00.

    Tip:

You can turn off Smart Sending for each campaign directly in the SMS or email campaign builders.
