Goals and Outcomes

Yotpo provides several tools to help boost review submissions and increase on-site conversions.

In this article, you will learn how to use review request emails, the Reviews Tab, and targeted review requests to drive more customer feedback and build trust with shoppers.

Feature Overview

Use automatic review requests, targeted messaging, and review request links to encourage customers to leave feedback and share their experiences. These methods help bring in more reviews across your site and products while keeping communication customer-friendly and non-intrusive.

Automatic review request

Automatic Review Request (ARR) emails are one of the most effective methods to collect reviews.

Best practices when setting up your Automatic Review Request emails:

  • By default, ARRs are sent 14 days after an order is processed. You have the flexibility to adjust delivery timing to account for variables such as shipping time. This ensures that shoppers receive the review request after they receive their product and have been allowed enough time to formulate an opinion of the product and service.

  • To adjust timing, enter the number of days in the Send after field or use the +/- controls.

  • Keep reminder emails short, clear, and persuasive.

  • Add an extra reminder - only customers who have not written a review yet will receive it. Leave at least 2 weeks between reminders.

  • Customers can unsubscribe anytime - Yotpo will not spam them.

The Reviews Tab

The Reviews Tab is a standalone tab placed on any page to display reviews in a lightbox. It helps drive traffic to product pages and increase engagement. You can customize placement, color, and display style. Learn how to add the Reviews Tab here.

Targeted emails

Targeted review request emails let you manually select customers to request a product review or site review.

You can upload a CSV file of customer contacts directly in the targeted review request editor.

For details on how to upload and format your CSV file, see the section Uploading CSV Files in the Creating a Targeted Product Review article.

Best practices for targeted emails:

  • Clarify what type of review you’re requesting (product or shop experience).

  • Use a friendly, concise tone that encourages feedback.

  • Preview your emails using the test option available in each targeted email editor. To learn more about test emails, click here.

Reviews submitted from targeted requests appear in your Reviews Tab and Dedicated Reviews Page. You can read more about Targeted Review Requests here.

Sending Frequency Rules

To avoid sending too many emails to customers, targeted review requests will not be sent to:

  • Customers who received an ARR in the past five days.

  • Customers who will receive an ARR in the next five days.

  • Customers who received a targeted review request in the past 30 days.

Note

Customers who have already written a review through a targeted request will not receive another one.
