# Scheduling an Earning Rule

Use earning rule scheduling to automatically start and end a promotion at a specific date and time. This is useful for running limited-time loyalty promotions, such as holiday campaigns, weekend offers, or seasonal events, without needing to manually activate or deactivate the rule.

In this article, you’ll learn how to schedule earning rules in Yotpo.

## How to Schedule an Earning Rule

1. **Create or edit** an earning rule.
2. In the **Schedule rule** section, configure when the earning rule should **start**:

  1. **Immediately**: The earning rule becomes active as soon as you save your changes (even if it’s not displayed in your Rewards Page).
  2. **Date**: Select a future date and time for the earning rule to start automatically.
3. Configure when the earning rule should **end**:
  1. **Never**: The earning rule remains active until you manually deactivate it.
  2. **Date**: Select a future date and time for the earning rule to end automatically.
4. **Save** your changes.

> Note
> 
> - If you schedule an earning rule to start on a future date, leave it **inactive** after saving. Yotpo will automatically activate it at the scheduled start date and time.

> - If you manually activate the earning rule before its scheduled start time, the manual activation overrides the existing schedule and the earning rule becomes active immediately.

### Time Zone Settings

By default, the system uses the time zone configured in your admin settings when scheduling earning rules. To change your time zone, go to **Program Settings >** [**General Settings**](https://loyalty-app.yotpo.com/settings) in your Yotpo Loyalty admin.

### Verify Your Schedule

After saving, the scheduled start and end dates will appear on the corresponding earning rule card in the Earning Rules table, making it easy to confirm when the promotion will run.
