    Shopper reviews are a vital part of the sales cycle. In order to fully leverage this power, shop owners need the ability to comment and respond to review content.

    Commenting enriches the review process by providing shop owners the ability to control and properly moderate inbound reviews received.

    Shop owners may choose to comment directly back to the reviewer or to publish their comments together with the review received.

    Where can you comment on the reviews?

    This feature allows store owners to reply to reviews that are left by customers via an automatic review request or on the Reviews Widget itself. The comments can be posted publicly on the website, meaning that everyone who visits the product page will see the review and comment; or privately, in which case only the reviewer will see the comment in his email - it will not be displayed on the product page. 

    Accessing the Comments page

    You define the look and feel for your public comments via the Reviews Widget and customize the template for emails sent to customers when you comment on a review.

    To access the customization settings in your Yotpo Reviews main menu, go to Emails > Comment Emails.

    Please note:
    To choose which products to promote in the email, click the Email Promoted Products link in the  Enable Email Promoted Products in Comments email checkbox.

    Customizing comments in the Reviews Widget

    Tip:
    You can see the changes before you save them in the Preview section on the right-hand side of the page.

    Setting the name

    This setting affects the name that appears next to your public comments and answers in the Reviews Widget.

    1. From your Yotpo Reviews main menu, go to Emails > Comment Emails.
    2. Select the General Settings tab.
    3. Enter the name in the Name field.
    4. Click Save Changes.

    Setting the avatar

    This setting affects the avatar that appears next to your public comments and answers in the Reviews Widget.

    1. From your Yotpo Reviews main menu, go to Emails > Comment Emails.
    2. Select the General Settings tab.
    3. Click Upload (or remove if you have already uploaded an image).
    4. Browse to the logo you want to use.
    5. Click Open. The image appears next to the avatar.
    6. Click Save Changes.

    Displaying comments in expanded mode

    If you want to show all the comments on reviews without customers having to open them:

    1. From your Yotpo Reviews main menu, go to Emails > Comment Emails.
    2. Select the General Settings tab.
    3. Select the Display your comments in expanded mode checkbox.
    4. Click Save Changes.

    Hiding comments

    If you want to hide all the comments on reviews until customers click to show them:

    1. From your Yotpo Reviews main menu, go to Emails > Comment Emails.
    2. Select the General Settings tab.
    3. Uncheck the Display your comments in expanded mode checkbox.
    4. Click Save Changes.

    Customizing your comment emails

    These settings affect the emails customers receive when you write a comment on a review that they left.

    Customizing the subject

    1. From your Yotpo Reviews main menu, go to Emails > Comment Emails.
    2. Select the Email Settings tab.
    3. Enter the text in the Email Subject field. You will see the changes in the preview on the right-hand side of the screen.
    4. Click Save Changes.

    Changing the body

    1. From your Yotpo Reviews main menu, go to Emails > Comment Emails.
    2. Select the Email Settings tab.
    3. Enter the text in the Body field. You will see the changes in the preview on the right-hand side of the screen.
    4. Click Save Changes.

    Comment email variables

    You can use the following variables in the comment emails. They are replaced with the appropriate values when the email is sent:

    {store_name}Your store name as it's defined in your Store Settings.
    {user}The name of the customer, as they entered it.
    {product}The name of the product the customer purchased.
    {comment}The comment that you made on the review.
    {store_email}The email of your store.

    Enabling upselling products

    1. From your Yotpo Reviews main menu, go to Emails > Comment Emails.
    2. Select the Email Settings tab.
    3. Select the Enable Email Promoted Products in Comments email checkbox. The promoted products you defined in Email and General Settings are displayed at the end of the email.
    4. Click Email Promoted Products to configure the products.
    5. Click Save Changes.

    Disabling upselling products

    1. From your Yotpo Reviews main menu, go to Emails > Comment Emails.
    2. Select the Email Settings tab.
    3. Uncheck the Enable Email Promoted Products in Comments email checkbox. The promoted products you defined in Email and General Settings are no longer displayed at the end of the email
    4. Click Save Changes.
