Goals and Outcomes

With the Cash Discount reward, you can create a set of predefined fixed amount discounts or allow customers to redeem any amount of points in exchange for their desired discount at checkout. In this article, you’ll learn how to set up and use Cash Discount rewards (previously known as Fixed Amount and Variable Coupons).

  • Fixed amount cash discounts are available for all Yotpo Loyalty & Referrals merchants using either Shopify or Shopify Plus.

  • Any amount cash discounts are available only for Shopify Plus and Loyalty & Referrals merchants on Pro, Premium, and Enterprise plans.

  • For other eCommerce platforms, refer to this guide.

Preset Cash Discounts

All merchants start with one preset Cash Discount reward consisting of fixed amount discounts.

Fixed amount off - cash discount configuration example

Note

If you’ve previously created a Fixed Amount and/or a Variable reward, you will still have access to edit them, as well as present them on-site.

To replace old Fixed Amount or Variable rewards with the new combined Cash Discount reward:

  1. Create a new Cash Discount.

  2. Delete the old Fixed Amount or Variable reward from your Redeemable Rewards table.

Managing Your Points Value

The points value sets the logic of how many points it will cost customers to redeem a reward.

For example, by setting a value of $1 equal to 100 points (or another currency), it will cost customers 100 points to redeem a $1 off discount.

Tip

You can change your points value based on your brand’s specific parameters and business model. The points value you set automatically assigns the discount rate for cash discounts, whether you choose the fixed amount or any amount option.

Note

For currencies that do not have sub-units (e.g., Chilean Peso, Japanese Yen), when Any Amount redemption is selected, the points value is limited to a 1:1 ratio.

Fixed Amount Cash Discounts

The fixed amount Cash Discount reward allows you to create several predefined discounts based on the points value that you set. Choose this option if you want to set the discount amount options you give to customers.

We recommend you start with the preset fixed amount off ($5, $10, $20) reward. You can edit it if you want to add a discount, remove a discount, or modify the settings of any of the preset discount amounts. These discounts are displayed to customers as some of the reward options that they can redeem using their available points.

Editing an Existing Reward

You can edit an existing fixed amount Cash Discount reward to add or remove discount amounts, and also to modify the reward’s advanced settings.

To edit an existing fixed amount Cash Discount:

  1. From the admin, go to Manage Program > Rewards program.

  2. Under Ways to Redeem, locate the existing Fixed amount off reward, and click to edit it.

Changing your points value

To change the points value of your discounts, enter a different points amount under the Points value section at the top of the page.

Adding or removing a discount amount
