The customer portal gives customers the flexibility to view, track, or make changes to their subscriptions. Making the portal accessible to your customers means they’ll be able to manage their subscriptions without having to reach out for support.

In this article, you’ll learn how to link the customer portal to emails and your customer account page.

    Before you start

These steps are only compatible if you are using Shopify 2.0. If you are still on Shopify Vintage, contact support for assistance.

Customers can access the customer portal page via a direct link from the subscription notifications they receive from your store. As soon as customers subscribe to one of your products, they'll receive a subscription confirmation email notification, including a login-free link to their customer portal.

To connect your site to the customer portal link shared in these emails, a banner will appear on your Yotpo subscriptions home page asking you to finish the setup. Selecting this will open up a modal with the following instructions:

    1. Click Get Started.
    2. In a separate tab, open your Shopify editor and select the dropdown Home page on top of the page.
    3. Click Pages > Create Template.
    4. Name your template “yotposubscriptionsmanager”. Make sure that Default page is selected and click Create template.
    5. Under Template, click Add section.
    6. Scroll down and click Custom Liquid.
    7. Back in the Yotpo modal, copy the provided code snippet. Return to Shopify and paste the code in the Custom Liquid input on the right side menu.
    8. Click Save and click the Exit icon on the top left of the page.
    9. Still in Shopify, Select Sales channels > Pages > Add new.
    10. Click the Theme template dropdown and select the page you created.
    11. Give your page a title and click Save.

Customers will now be able to access the customer portal via links in email notifications.

    Please note:
If your URL isn't connected by following the steps above, the URL will start with yotpo-subscriptions instead of your store's name.

Setting up the customer portal on your account page

Let customers access their customer portal right from your login page.

To set up your customer portal on the account page, log in to your Yotpo subscriptions account and go to Store View > Customer Portal Widget. A banner will appear at the top of the page asking you to finish setup. Selecting this will open up a modal with the following instructions:

    1. Click Get Started.
    2. In a separate tab, open Shopify and click Online store.
    3. Click the three dots next to Customize and select Edit code.
    4. Search for main-account-liquid.
    5. Scroll down and look for the last </div> before {% schema %} on the page.
    6. Back in the Yotpo modal, copy the provided code snippet, paste before the </div> and click Save.

Your customers can now access their portal from their account login.
