Migrating from Yotpo Subscriptions to Another App
- DarkLight
Yotpo Subscriptions will be discontinued on May 31 2025
If you have a Customer Success Manager, they will be reaching out to you. If you don’t, follow the instructions in this guide.
This guide will help you transition to another subscriptions app while maintaining your business continuity.
Context
For over 13 years, we’ve been on a mission to help eCommerce marketers like you build incredible customer experiences, boost retention, and grow their brands. And honestly, that mission is just as exciting today as it was on day one. But part of our job is figuring out where we can have the biggest impact.
After taking a hard look at our products and how the market’s evolving, we’ve decided that you can achieve more by having a specialized subscription solution natively integrated into the Yotpo data platform.
The impact for you will be best of both worlds: a rich feature subscription solution that is natively integrated into the best retention platform out there. This is why we decided to sunset our Subscriptions product. This was a tough call, but we believe we can drive more value for you by focusing on what we do best—our core retention solutions: Reviews, Loyalty, Email, and SMS.
Preparing for Migration
Choose your new subscription provider. Make sure to evaluate the providers’ offering against your existing setup.
Begin coordination with their migration team.
Install your chosen subscription app and set up subscriptions capabilities (discounts, delivery frequencies, cancellation reasons etc).
Consider any existing automation flow or integration with Yotpo and make sure to set up integrations before moving on.
Add your subscription products to the new app before beginning migration.
Replacing Product Page Widget
Navigate to Yotpo admin -> store view.
Hover “Product page widget” and locate the “...” menu at the top right corner of the block.
Click “Deactivate” and confirm.
Install your new app's subscription widget on your product pages.
New subscriptions will be created on your new app.Conduct a test subscription purchase to ensure proper functionality.
Disabling Customer Portal Actions
During migration, avoid making changes to existing subscriptions.
In addition, follow these steps to disable customers’ ability to make changes from the customer portal:
Access Yotpo admin → Store View → Customer portal widget.
Navigate to 'Available actions'.
Disable all actions.
Heads up
If you do not see all portal actions listed, this means you’re using a fixed widget version because you have CSS customizations. Contact Yotpo’s support to help you update the widget to its newest version
Pushing the orders going out soon a few days ahead
You are about to export your subscription data and ask your next provider to import it.This process can sometimes take a few days.
To make sure the transition is smooth, we recommend pushing the orders going out in the next few days ahead, so you won't accidentally send them twice (from Yotpo and your next app).
To accomplish that, you'll use bulk actions, select the target date we'll be pushing the orders to, then select which subscriptions to push ahead (these are subscriptions with a "Next charge date" of today, tomorrow and the day after that).
Please review these instructions carefully before following them.
Go to Yotpo admin → Subscriptions → Bulk actions.
Click “Update Subscriptions”.
From the “Actions” dropdown, select “Set next charge date”.
To push orders ahead, select the date of 4 days from today (this is the date orders will be pushed to).
Now, we will select which subscriptions to push. Click "Add Condition”.
From the “Condition” dropdown, select “Next charge date”.
Click “Value” and select a date range including the dates of today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. Please review your selection carefully before proceeding.
Click “Next” again, then “Update Subscriptions”.
Exporting Subscription Data
For Recharge or Stay.ai migrations, contact Yotpo’s support.
For other apps, follow these instructions:
Go to Yotpo admin → Subscriptions.
Click “Export to CSV file”.
Enter your email address.
The file will arrive to your email inbox.
Completing Migration
Provide your exported data to the new app’s migration team.
Verify successful migration in the new app’s customer section.
Remove any manually added Yotpo customer portal widgets from your store pages.
Remove the Yotpo app.
Removing the Yotpo app is important
The Yotpo app will continue to create new recurring orders until you remove it.
If you still need a few days before you can remove the app, go into the admin, Subscriptions page, and cancel all the subscription due in the next several days to prevent duplicate orders.
