        Referral tracking is an important part of managing a referral program. Brands need to have the option to know and understand referral flow status to provide their customers with full transparency. This helps you provide a better merchant and customer experience.

        In this article, you’ll learn how to view and manage your customers’ referral link activity.

        On your Yotpo Loyalty & Referrals Customers page, you can view a customer's Referral Link Activity to see who has clicked their referral link.

        Before you start

        Make sure your referral program is set up and available on your site. To learn more see:

        Referral link activity statuses

        Once a referral link is clicked, we start monitoring the referral activity. Each stage of the referral receives a status tag indicating where the referral stands. These status tags include:

        Status

        Description

        Pending Purchase

        When the friend received the reward but did not yet make a purchase

        Referral Blocked

        The friend was not eligible for the reward and the referral process ended. This usually happens when our system recognizes attempted fraud.

        Referral Completed

        The friend received the reward, made a purchase and the referring customer received a reward for a successful referral

        Reversed (order return)

        The flow was completed but the friend received a refund or canceled the order. This means that either the purchase amount dropped below the required minimum spend or the purchase was reverted altogether.

        In this case, the referring customer’s reward is retracted if they haven’t used it yet.

        Unmet Condition

        The friend’s purchase amount was below the required minimum spend. This means that neither the friend nor the referring customer received a reward.

        Partially Blocked

        The friend made a purchase but the referring customer didn’t get the reward due to a suspected fraud attempt

        Manually Completed

        The referral flow was manually completed within your Yotpo Loyalty & Referrals customer profile interface

        Duplicate Referral

        The friend’s email address is associated with several referrals from several customers.

        As soon as the friend makes a purchase, the referral associated with the purchase will be marked as “Referral Completed”, while all other referral records for that friend’s email will be marked as “Duplicate Referral”.

        Manually complete a referral

        If a referral wasn’t completed but you wish to complete it manually, you can use the Manually complete referral button.

        Using this button will credit the referring customer with the referral, and send them the associated reward.

        To manually complete the referral:

        1. Scroll to the Referral Link Activity section on the referring customer’s profile.

        2. Locate the referral that you want to complete.

        3. Click Details.

        4. Click Manually complete referral.

        Please note:

        Referrals with a “Referral Completed” status and “Referral Blocked” statuse cannot be manually completed.
