    What is RCS?

    RCS (Rich Communication Services) is an advanced messaging technology that works natively on devices, with no need for additional apps. It offers many features beyond standard SMS, including brand personalization, high-quality media sharing, verification indicators, detailed analytics like read receipts and link clicks, and interactive message threads.

    With Yotpo, you can seamlessly integrate RCS into your customer engagement strategy, providing visually rich messaging that helps build stronger customer relationships.

    Currently, RCS messaging is offered only in the US. It is available to selected merchants. For more information, reach out to our Support team.

    Goals and Outcomes

    To use Yotpo for sending RCS messages, you must first complete a 3-step registration process. After submitting the registration form, your application will be reviewed. Approval may take a few days.

    Note

    You must fill out all fields in the registration form to submit it. You can easily navigate between the steps to make edits before finishing the registration.

    RCS Registration Overview

    Accessing the Registration Form

    You can access the registration form from the Campaigns page and from the multi-message campaign builder.

    Campaigns page

    1. In your Yotpo SMS & Email main menu, go to Campaigns > My Campaigns.

    2. In the Recommendations section, find the RCS card and click Preregister for RCS.

    Tip

    If you don’t see the Recommendations section, click the 3-dot menu in the top right corner and select Show recommendations.

    Multi-message campaign builder

    1. In the app’s header, click the Create campaign button and select Multi-message.

    2. Click Create campaign. You’ll be taken to the multi-message campaign builder.

    3. Select the audience you want to send the first message to and click Apply.

    4. In the campaign builder, click the + icon and then click Add message.

    5. Click Register, next to the RCS channel, to open the registration form.

    Filling out the Registration Form

    When you open the registration form, a summary of RCS features will be displayed. Click Preregister to begin filling out the form.

    Step 1: Message branding

    In this step, you define how your store’s brand message screen will look:

    1. Enter your store name as you want your customers to see it. It must be no more than 24 characters long, including spaces. Special characters and symbols are not allowed.

    2. Upload an image of your brand’s logo that meets the following requirements:

      • Resolution: 224 x 224 px

      • Maximum file size: 90 KB

      • Format: JPEG

    3. Enter your brand’s tagline, a phrase that reflects its identity and mission. It must be no more than 100 characters long, including spaces.

    4. Click Next.

    Step 2: Company info

    In this step, you define how your store’s contact info page will look.

    Tip

    The RCS contact info page offers essential details for reaching your business. It resembles the contact details screen on mobile phones but includes enhanced features. For example, when customers click your brand logo in the RCS chat thread, they can access an Options tab to view links to your Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

    To customize the page:

    1. Upload an image of your brand that meets the requirements below:

      • Resolution: 1440 x 448 px

      • Maximum file size: 360 KB

      • Format: JPEG

    2. Add a number that accepts customer calls. Note that the TFNs and LVNs assigned by Yotpo are not supported.  

    3. Enter your store’s email address.

    4. Enter your store’s website address.

    5. In the Compliance section:

      1. Add a link to your store’s Terms of Service.

      2. Add a link to your store’s Privacy Policy.

    6. Click Next.

    Step 3: Personal contact

    In this step, provide your contact details so Yotpo can reach you if needed during the RCS registration process for your store:

    1. Fill in the fields below:

      1. First name

      2. Last name

      3. Job title

      4. Phone number

      5. Email

      6. Store address

    2. Click Finish registration. You will receive an update by email on your application’s progress within 5 to 8 days.

    Note

    After you submit your registration form, a banner on the Campaigns page will notify you that the registration is under review. A Pending label will also appear next to the RCS channel in the multi-message campaign builder.
