Setting up a Points for Purchases Earning Rule on Shopify
- DarkLight
Points for Purchases is a purchase based earning rule (previously known as a campaign) that offers your customers loyalty points for every purchase they make in your store. The earning rule is already set up when you sign up for Yotpo Loyalty & Referrals and go through the onboarding.
This article will explain how to set up and use your existing Points for Purchases earning rule and create additional ones if needed.

Editing your Points for Purchases earning rule
As a new merchant, you already have a Points for Purchases earning rule set up. To view and edit its settings, do the following:
- From your Loyalty & Referrals menu, go to Set Up Program > Rewards Program.
- Hover over your points for purchases earning rule and click Edit.
Points value
The earning rule is based on the logic of how many points a customer will earn per $1 (or another currency) spent.
The value we suggest setting is: earn 1 point per $1 spent.
We recommend a 1:1 ratio because it’s simple to manage and understand, which is also why most brands use it.
Managing advanced settings
You can modify the advanced settings for various purposes such as setting a limited-time promotion, targeting customer segments, promoting certain products and collections, etc.
To view and edit these settings, under Points for Purchases settings, click advanced settings.
