How it works
When you update widgets, you're effectively replacing the existing core widget code with a new and improved widget code.
If you have custom CSS code implemented in a certain widget, these CSS overrides will remain intact - Yotpo does not automatically update the widget version of a widget with custom CSS in the CSS editor section. In this case, you will be able to manually update the widget version.
Automatic version updates
By default, Yotpo will automatically update your 3.0 widgets to the latest version. If your widget version was updated, you will get a notification the next time you log into Yotpo Reviews.
If you do not wish to automatically update your widget version:
- In your Yotpo Reviews main menu, go to On-site Widgets.
- Click the widget settings menu in the top right corner.
- Turn off the Auto-update widgets toggle.
- Click Save.
Now, the widget version can only be manually updated after previewing it.
Important:
Once the widget version has been published and pushed to the live site, whether automatically or manually, it cannot be reverted.
Manually updating the widget version
If you didn't choose to automatically update your widget version, you will see a banner in the relevant widget editor page that notifies you of a new available widget version.
You can preview the newest widget version or skip the current update.
Tip:
When a new version is available, you will be able to see your current widget version at the bottom of the widget editor page.
Previewing the latest widget version
Click on Preview version in the banner to see how your widget’s design will be affected by the latest version.
Please note:
Looking at the preview will not have any effect on your on-site customer experience
You will now see the latest available widget version and how it affects your widget design and editor.
- If you approve of the changes and want to push them onto your live site, click the Update version option in the banner.
- If you do not want to change your widget version after looking at the preview, click the Exit preview option and then Skip the version.
Skipping the update
If you click the Skip the version option of the banner, you will not see the banner until a newer version is available.
