    Forms Loader Overview

Yotpo’s integration with Shopify’s App Embed Extension offers a faster, more reliable way to display on-site forms, like pop-ups and spin-to-win overlays, without relying on outdated script tags. By enabling this feature, you ensure your forms load exactly when expected, improve deliverability for new subscribers, and avoid future disruptions from Shopify’s gradual deprecation of script-based methods. This upgrade helps streamline your SMS and email list growth while enhancing site performance and compatibility with Shopify’s latest theme architecture.

In this article, you will learn how to migrate your on-site forms to the App Embed Extension and ensure they continue displaying correctly across your store.

    Getting Started

To enable the app extension, you need to open your Shopify store’s theme.

    Forms Loader Basics

To keep things running smoothly, you’ll need to switch your forms, like pop-ups and spin-to-win overlays, from the old script tag method to Shopify’s newer App Embed Extension. Shopify is phasing out script tags, so making this change now helps you stay ahead and avoid issues down the line.

    Benefits

    • Improved Performance: Your forms will load more reliably and follow any delay settings you’ve set up.

    • Future-Proofing: You won’t have to worry about Shopify dropping support for script tags.

    • Simplified Setup: You can skip the manual coding, once you enable the extension, everything just works.

    Enabling Forms Loader

When you go to the Subscriber Collection Tools section in Yotpo, you’ll see a prompt with a quick explanation, a helpful gif, and a Go to Shopify button. Click the button to jump straight to the App Embed settings in your Shopify admin, don’t worry, the toggle is already turned on for you.

All you need to do is click Save. Once you do, Yotpo automatically removes the old script tag, and your forms will start using the new method right away.

After you click Save, your forms will switch to the App Embed method, and you won’t be able to go back to script tags.

    Important

If someone later turns off the App Embed in your Shopify admin, your forms will stop showing on your store (they’ll still be active, just not visible).

In Yotpo, you  will see a red warning modal and red notification dots to let you know something needs your attention.

    Special Cases

If you’re using a headless Shopify setup or Hydrogen, you won’t see this migration flow. Instead, you’ll need to manually copy and paste the form code into your custom front end.

If you’ve added Yotpo’s form code manually to your theme in the past, make sure to remove it before completing the migration. Otherwise, your forms might show up twice in your store.

    Tip

After you enable the App Embed, check your live store to make sure there aren’t any duplicate forms. If you see two versions, just head to your theme editor and delete the old manual code.
