Subscription plans are the building blocks of your subscription offers. To start selling your products on a recurring basis, you need to first create at least one subscription plan, and include at least one product in that plan.

        Please note:

By including a group of products in the same subscription plan, it means that you want to display them to shoppers under the same offer name, with the same set of delivery and discount options.

        How it works

You can include all your products in a single subscription plan or create multiple plans for different products. It all depends on how you want to package and sell your products.

For example: You may want to offer some products on a monthly basis, and others on a weekly basis, depending on demand, inventory, size, etc. You may want to offer larger subscription discounts on some of your products, and lower discounts on other products. In these cases, you will need to create different plans for different products.

        Understanding plan types

There are 2 types of subscriptions you can offer your customers:

        1. Subscribe and save subscriptions: This is the standard type of subscription, where customers are charged each time a new order is processed, and can cancel anytime.
        2. Calendar-based SKU swaps: With SKU swaps, customers sign up to receive one or more different products each month or quarter, and will pay for each delivery separately.

        To create a new plan:

        1. In your Yotpo Subscriptions main menu, go to Plans.
        2. Click +New plan.
        3. Select which type of plan you want to create.

Setting up subscribe and save subscriptions

Subscribe and save plans include the following settings:

        Plan settingDescription
        Display name
The display name is the name shoppers see on your product page, and what they'll need to select if they want to subscribe to your product. See what the display name will look like for different Subscription Widget layouts.
        Internal name
The internal name you want to use to refer to your plan and differentiate between plans.
ProductsThe different products included in your plan. All plan products share the same settings (i.e., the same delivery options, discounts, etc.).
Delivery optionsThe different frequencies at which shoppers can subscribe to your products, for example: every 1 week, every 2 weeks, etc.
Delivery scheduleWhen customers receive their order.

Please note: To learn more about setting specific delivery schedules, see Adding a Buffer Window
Renewal periodWhether the subscription expires or is ongoing.
DiscountsThe savings you want to offer per delivery option. You can set discounts in percentages or fixed dollar amounts. If you don't want to offer a discount on a given delivery option, set the discount rate to 0.

Please note: We support varying discounts. This means you can incentivize shoppers to purchase your product more frequently by offering a larger discount, and a lower discount on less frequent options.

Setting up Calendar-based SKU swap subscriptions

Calendar-based SKU swap plans include the following settings:

        Plan settingDescription
Display nameThe display name is the name shoppers see on your product page, and what they'll need to select if they want to subscribe to your product. See what the display name will look like for different Subscription Widget layouts.
Internal nameThe internal name you want to use to refer to your plan and differentiate between plans.

Delivery frequencyThe different frequencies at which shoppers receive products. Can be monthly or quarterly.

Please note: This can't be edited after the plan is launched.
Delivery scheduleWhen customers receive their order.
Renewal periodWhether the subscription expires or is ongoing.
Parent productThis is the product that represents the subscription. It doesn't have to be available for fulfillment, and will set the price of the plan.
ProductsThe different products included in your plan. All plan products share the same settings (i.e., the same delivery options, discounts, etc.).

Please note: At least 3 products must be selected to launch the plan. If a month or quarter is not assigned a product, customers will receive the previous product.

        Viewing subscription plans

Your subscription plans cover all the subscription offers you have live on your store.

To view and manage all your subscription plans, go to Plans. You’ll get a listed overview of all your subscription plans, including the plan names and the number of products included in each plan. Select any plan to get all the information on that plan.

Removing subscription plans from your store

To remove a subscription plan from your store, take the following steps:
        1. Go to Plans.
        2. Click on the desired plan.
        3. Click Delete plan.
You’ll be prompted to confirm that you want to remove your plan from your store.

        Please note:
Deleting a plan will remove all relevant subscription offers from your store. To delete existing subscription orders (i.e., plans that customers have already subscribed to), go to Managing Customer Subscription Orders.

Publishing subscription plans on your store

All subscription plans are published on your store and available to shoppers. You can remove individual plans from your store by deleting plans.

To see what published subscriptions look like on your store, go to Previewing Subscriptions Store Appearance.
