What Are Verified and Authenticated Sender Emails?

To run email campaigns and flows in Yotpo Email, you need a sender email. This is the address your recipients will see in the "From" field of your emails.

    Verified Emails

Sending messages from a verified email ensures that you have access to and control over the email address you want to use, making it a trusted source for recipients. Yotpo verifies your address by sending a verification link to the specified email, which you’ll need to click to complete the verification process.

    Important

You can verify an email using either a public domain or a brand domain:

    • Public domain: The address is linked to email providers such as Gmail and Yahoo. In Yotpo, verified sender emails using public domains are limited to sending test emails only.

    • Brand domain: The address is linked to a custom domain owned by your business (for example, info@mystore.com). It can be used to send test emails and up to 5,000 marketing emails per day.

    Authenticated Emails

To comply with sender requirements from major inbox service providers (ISPs), including Google and Yahoo, introduced in 2024, you need an authenticated email. This applies if you’re sending more than 5,000 emails per day. These requirements help combat spam and improve inbox security. Even if you send fewer than 5,000 emails daily, we recommend using an authenticated email, as it improves the likelihood of your emails reaching the inbox. To learn more, see Meeting Google and Yahoo’s Sender Requirements.

To get an authenticated sender email, you’ll need to set up your dedicated sending domain so that the messages you send appear to come from your brand instead of Yotpo. An authenticated email doesn’t need to be verified again unless you plan to use it as a reply-to address. To learn more, see Adding and Authenticating a Sending Domain.

    Goals and Outcomes

With Yotpo Email, you can effortlessly manage sender emails. You can add new addresses in just a few steps and remove them whenever necessary. A table provides a clear overview of all added sender emails, allowing you to track their verification and authentication statuses.

In this article, you’ll learn how to add and verify a sender email.

Adding and Verifying a Sender Email

To add and verify a sender email:

    1. In your Yotpo SMS & Email main menu, go to Settings > General Settings > Email Settings tab.

    2. In the Sender and reply-to email addresses section, enter an email address and click + Add email. The address will appear in the table and will be tagged as Unverified.

    3. Go to your email and click Verify Email in the message you’ve received from Yotpo. You can verify your email within 48 hours of receiving the message.

      Note

If you don’t see the message in your inbox, check the spam folder.

After completing the verification process, the email will appear as Verified in the table.

    Tip

If you have multiple verified email addresses, you can use a different email for the "From” address, and the email used for replying ("Reply to").

Since verified emails are limited in functionality, we strongly recommend using an authenticated sender email. Messages sent from an authenticated address are more likely to reach the recipient's inbox, as they are recognized as coming from a trusted source. This improves deliverability rates, enhances your brand’s credibility, and ensures your messages are less likely to be flagged as spam.

Once you authenticate your sending domain, simply repeat steps 1 and 2 above to add the address. It will appear as Authenticated in the table, without further action being required on your side. You only need to verify it if you want to use it as a reply-to email as well.

The table below shows all email status tags.

    Description

This email can function as both a sender and a reply-to address and can be linked to either a public domain or a brand domain. Verified emails linked to public domains are limited to sending test emails only and cannot be used in campaigns. If the email is linked to a brand domain but the domain is not authenticated via Yotpo, sending marketing messages will be restricted to 5,000 emails per day.

This email is not yet verified. It cannot be used until the verification process is complete.

This email is linked to a brand domain authenticated via Yotpo and can be used for sending marketing emails without any message limit. Verification is only required if you intend to use it as a reply-to address.

This email is both authenticated and verified. It can be used for sending marketing emails with no message limit and as a reply-to address.

    Deleting a Sender Email

You can easily remove an email by clicking the remove (bin) icon in the table. However, if the email is currently used in an active campaign or flow, it cannot be deleted.

Adding a Sender Email in Campaigns

For maximum flexibility, you can also add a sender email while creating an email campaign:

    1. On the Yotpo Email home page, click Create campaign in the header.

    2. Select Email and click Create campaign.

    3. Open the Sender email dropdown menu and click + Add a sender email.

    4. Enter your email and click Add email. You will receive an email to verify your address.

To add a reply-to email, click Add a reply-to email (optional) and choose the address where you’d like to receive messages from your customers. By default, if left empty, customers will not be able to reply to your message.
