Goals and Outcomes
To fully comply with GDPR requirements, Yotpo Loyalty & Referrals allows you to anonymize a customer’s name and email address. This removes personally identifiable information while preserving the customer’s historical loyalty activity, such as points earned, redemptions, and events.
Anonymizing customers is not required for billing purposes. Yotpo Loyalty & Referrals does not charge based on customer count, so having additional customers in your account will not impact your monthly fees.
For more privacy details, see our Privacy Guide.
What Anonymization Does
When you anonymize a customer:
Their name and email address are permanently removed.
Their loyalty activity, history, and events remain available in your analytics.
The customer cannot be identified or contacted through Yotpo.
Anonymizing a customer is permanent and irreversible:
This action removes the stored identity and breaks the link between Yotpo and the customer's eCommerce platform account.
After anonymization, the customer will no longer be able to access any rewards-related details, including points, VIP tier, or referral information.
If the same email address interacts with your store again in the future, Yotpo will create a new, separate customer record with no connection to the anonymized history.
Store account deletion also affects loyalty data access:
Each customer’s Yotpo loyalty profile is directly linked to their store account. If you delete the customer’s store account, they will also lose access to all rewards-related information, even if they have not been anonymized.
