Setting up Popups to Incentivize Referrals

Engage shoppers in your referral program with popups. These popups appear on your website and encourage shoppers to share with their friends. Learn more about the different kinds of Referral Program popups.

There are three types of popups that can be used to incentivize shoppers to engage with your referral program.

• Main popup: Share Referral Link
  The main popup must be activated for the other two to be relevant
• Main popup variations:
  • Create Account/Log In Form #1
  • Share Referral Link via Email Popup

Customize the main "Share Referral Link" popup

First, you need to customize the main popup, which is called "Share Referral Link."The "Share Referral Link" popup encourages your customers to refer their friends. It contains each customer's unique referral link and social share links as well.

In your Yotpo Loyalty & Referrals admin go to 

1. Programs > Referral Program.
2. Select Share Referral Link from the dropdown menu.
3. Click Customize popup.

Settings

Now configure the Share Referral Link popup settings. Below is a description of what each setting means.

• Use the Width and Height bars to change the actual dimensions (in pixels) of the popup itself
• Use the Upload Image button to put an image in the background
• Click on a text to see editing options for it

Popup enabled?

If your popup is enabled, it means it is live on your site, and no deployment is required.  

Show on page load

Choose if you want the popup to appear after a certain amount of time spent on your website. Choose either "never" or duration in minutes. 

Only show if URL matches

The option allows you to choose which of your store's pages will show the popup. For example, if you want the popup to appear once the customer clicks on the Shop link in your store, you can do so by inputting the desired URL. 

Frequency limit

The Frequency limit determines how many times per day a customer on your website will see the popup. The default setting is once per day, but you are free to edit these settings anywhere from once per ten minutes to once per month. 

Exit intent

The Exit-Intent feature allows you to show the Referral Link Popup to customers whose cursor is traveling to the upper corner of the window (likely with the intention of exiting the website). 

Tab

• Choose if you want to display a tab where shoppers can easily access your referral program at any time.
• Choose its position for both web and mobile. You can also choose to hide the tab entirely. Make sure if you hide it, that you have another way for them to access the popup. Read more about hiding the tab.

Customize "Create Account/Log In Form #1" popup

All the previous settings you set on "Share Referral Link" will automatically be applied to this popup as well. Now you can customize the look & feel of "Create Account/Log In Form #1."

In your Yotpo Loyalty & Referrals admin go to

1. Programs > Referral Program.
2. Select Create Account/Log In Form #1 from the dropdown menu.
   
3. Click Customize popup.
   • Use the Width and Height bars to change the actual dimensions (in pixels) of the popup itself
   • Use the Upload Image button to put an image in the background
   • Click on a text to see editing options for it

4. Click Save Changes 

Customize "Share Referral Link via Email" popup

All the previous settings you set on "Share Referral Link" will automatically be applied to this popup as well. Now you can customize the look & feel of "Share Referral Link via Email Popup."In your Yotpo Loyalty & Referrals admin go to:

1. Programs > Referral Program.
2. Select Share Referral Link via Email Popup from the dropdown menu.
3. Click Customize popup.
   • Use the Width and Height bars to change the actual dimensions (in pixels) of the popup itself
   • Use the Upload Image button to put an image in the background
   • Click on a text to see editing options for it

4, Click Save Changes 

Your Referral program popups are now set up.
