This guide will walk you through the process of integrating Yotpo Reviews into your WooCommerce store.
Before You Start
Make sure you have a Yotpo Reviews account. See our plans here.
Check that your store meets the requirements: WordPress 6.0 or later, PHP 7.4 or later, and WooCommerce 3.0 or later. The plugin is tested up to WordPress 7.1 and WooCommerce 11.2.
Check our Supported Platforms guide.
Note
The plugin doesn't support third-party page builders such as Elementor or Divi. For those, please see our guide on manually installing the Reviews Widget and Star Rating.
Installing Yotpo Reviews
Follow the steps in order and don't skip any.
Note
Changes to on-site widgets, such as the Reviews Widget and Reviews Tab, can take time to appear on your live site. Learn about widget performance settings.
This guide will walk you through the process of integrating Yotpo Reviews into your WooCommerce store.
Step 1: Install the Yotpo plugin
In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins > Add New and search for Yotpo Product Reviews. Install and activate the Yotpo plugin.
Click Yotpo in the WordPress admin menu.
Connect your Yotpo account:
New to Yotpo: fill out Create your Yotpo account and click Register.
Already have an account: under Already have a Yotpo account?, click Enter your keys, then enter your App key and Secret token. Learn where to find them here.

Under Reviews and orders, check Send orders to Yotpo at status. The default is Completed. Orders that reach this status are sent to Yotpo and trigger automatic review requests (Premium and Enterprise plans).

Click Save changes.
Note
Once your keys are saved, the plugin starts syncing your product catalog to Yotpo in the background. Jump to Product catalog sync.
Step 2: Enable reviews for your store
This step applies to WooCommerce 3 and later. On older versions, skip to Step 3.
In your WordPress admin, go to WooCommerce > Settings > Products.
Check Enable product reviews and click Save changes.
Step 3: Choose your on-site widgets
Activating the plugin adds Yotpo's JavaScript, Conversion Tracking, the Reviews Widget, and the Star Rating to your product pages. The Q&A widget is optional (see Q&A Widget Overview).
To choose which widgets appear and where:
Click Yotpo in the WordPress admin menu and scroll to On-site widgets.
Set the Widgets version to v3.
Set Widget placement:
Automatic places the widgets in your theme's standard product page areas.
Manual lets you place them yourself. See the Manual Installation Guide.
Turn on the widgets you want: Reviews widget, Star rating on product pages, Star rating on category pages, and Q&A widget (optional). For Reviews carousel, Promoted products, and Reviews tab, check the pages they should appear on.

Click Save changes.
Note
If you turn on a widget you haven't customized in Yotpo yet, the plugin asks you to customize it in Yotpo Reviews first.
Step 4: Import your existing reviews
Click Yotpo in the WordPress admin menu and scroll to Tools.
Click Export reviews to download your WooCommerce reviews as a CSV file.

Send the file through the online support form, and we'll import your reviews.
Step 5 (optional): Send past orders
Under Tools > Send past orders, you can send orders from the last 90 days with the status you chose in Step 1 so Yotpo can ask those customers for reviews. You can do this once. Review requests may go out for these orders, depending on your Yotpo settings.
Learn more in Setting up past automatic review requests.
Product Catalog Sync
Available from plugin version 1.10.0.
The plugin keeps your product catalog in Yotpo up to date, including variations. It runs in the background, so it doesn't slow down your store's pages.
First sync: right after you connect or update, the plugin syncs your whole catalog once. It checks what Yotpo already has and only sends what's missing or changed.
After that, each product you add or change syncs on its own.
Unpublished products: draft, trashed, or deleted products are hidden in Yotpo. They won't receive review requests and won't appear in widgets. Publishing a product again restores it.
Variations: each variation is synced as a variant of its product. Disabled or deleted variations are marked as discontinued.
Brand and barcodes: the brand comes from WooCommerce Brands, and barcodes from the product's GTIN, UPC, EAN, or ISBN field. If those are empty, the plugin uses product attributes named
brand, upc, isbnorean. To send an MPN, add a product attribute namedmpn.
Sync status
Under Product catalog, the line below Sync products to Yotpo shows what the sync is doing:

Status | What it means |
|---|---|
Full sync running: X of Y products done. | The first sync is in progress. |
Last full sync: [date]. X synced, Y failed. | The full sync finished. If products failed, the last error is shown. |
Full sync stopped. It starts again on the next page load. | The sync was turned off during a full sync. |
Full sync stalled: X of Y products done. | The sync stopped making progress several times. Check your PHP error log, then turn Sync products to Yotpo off and on to try again. |
Off. Products are not sent to Yotpo. | The sync is turned off. |
Turning the sync off
Under Product catalog, turn off Sync products to Yotpo and click Save changes. Any queued sync jobs are canceled. Turning it back on runs a full sync to catch up.
Managing the blocklist, groups and custom questions with product tags
Available from plugin version 1.11.0.
You can set a product's blocklist status, review group, and custom question form with WooCommerce product tags, instead of updating your product catalog in Yotpo.
Turning it on
Click Yotpo in the WordPress admin menu and scroll to Product catalog.
Turn on Use product tags for the blocklist, groups, and custom questions.
Click Save changes. The plugin syncs your catalog once to apply your tags.
Once your keys are saved, the plugin starts syncing your product catalog to Yotpo in the background. Jump to Product catalog sync.
Please note:
When this setting is on, your product tags replace the blocklist, groups and custom question forms set in Yotpo, for example by catalog CSV. Tag your products before you turn it on.
The tags
Tag | What it does | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Adds the product to your blocklist: no automatic review requests, and its reviews don't appear in widgets such as the Reviews Carousel. |
|
| Adds the product to a review group, so it shares reviews with the other products in the group. |
|
| Review requests for the product use the custom question form with that tag. |
|
Rules
Tags are case-sensitive: write
YBlocklist,YGroup_andYCRF_exactly as shown. The prefix isn't part of the name:
YGroup_shirtsputs the product in the group shirts. One group and one form per product: if a product has more than one
YGroup_orYCRF_tag, the first in alphabetical order is used.Group names use lowercase letters, numbers,
-and_up to 100 characters. Other characters are converted: uppercase letters become lowercase, spaces become_, and any other character becomes-.Form tags must match the tag of the form exactly, including uppercase and lowercase letters, and can't contain commas.
Removing a tag reverses it: the product leaves the blocklist or its group, or goes back to the default form.
Renaming or deleting one of these tags under Products > Tags updates every product that has it.
Please note:
To tag many products at once, select them on the Products page, then choose Bulk actions > Edit and add the tag under Product tags.
Turning it off
Turn off Use product tags for the blocklist, groups, and custom questions, and click Save changes. Products keep the blocklist status, group, and form they have in Yotpo, and you can manage them in Yotpo again.
Troubleshooting
The Reviews Widget doesn't appear on some product pages
In your WordPress admin, click Products.
Select the products where the widget should appear.
Open Bulk actions, choose Edit, and click Apply.
Next to Comments, select Allow.
Click Update.
The sync status shows an error
HTTP 406: Yotpo refused a product or image URL. This usually happens on a staging or local site (for example, a localhost address). Run the sync from your live store.
To see the sync's background jobs, go to WooCommerce > Status > Scheduled Actions and search for "yotpo".
For developers: the plugin includes WP-CLI commands:
wp yotpo product-sync status,wp yotpo product-sync startandwp yotpo product-sync product <id>.
