Creating a Tweet About Us Earning Rule on Shopify

Yotpo Loyalty & Referrals' Tweet about us is a social based earning rule that allows you to reward your customers for tweeting about your brand. Use this earning rule to expand brand awareness and increase social engagement with your brand on Twitter.
This article will introduce you to the Tweet about us earning rule (previously known as a campaign), and explain how to set it up to best fit your loyalty program’s goals.

How to create a Tweet about us earning rule
- From your Loyalty & Referrals menu, go to Set Up Program > Rewards Program.
- Click Create earning rule.
- Under Social, select Tweet about us and click Next.
Adding your Tweet text
Under the Tweet about us settings, enter a default message that you want to provide your customers within the Tweet text field. This way, customers will be able to automatically copy & paste it onto their Twitter posts whenever they click on this earning rule from their rewards page.
Below are the descriptions of each setting found in your earning rule for your reference
Setting your points reward amount
Determine how many points customers can earn for Tweeting about your brand. You can either use our default amount of 10 points or enter a different amount.
Managing advanced settings
You can modify the advanced settings for various purposes such as targeting customer segments, limiting the amount of the reward that can be received, etc.
To view and edit these settings, click advanced settings under the Tweet about us settings.

Target audience - Add Lists & Segments to target this earning rule at specific audiences. For example, target those who have not made a purchase in over 90 days.
- Apply this rule to - Use the drop-down menu to include the relevant lists and/or segments of customers you’d like to target.
- Do not apply this rule to - You also have the option to exclude lists and/or segments. For example, if you want to apply a Tweet about us rule to all customers except for those who consistently spend a lot of money in your store. In this case, you would select Apply this rule to - All customers, and Do not apply this rule to - Top spenders.
Maximum times completed - Select the maximum number of times a customer can complete this rule. If you don’t want to set a maximum limit, select No maximum from the drop-down.
- Waiting period between rewards - Depending on the maximum times completed limitation you set, you can set a waiting period that needs to pass before a customer can earn another reward from this earning rule.
If you don’t want to enforce a waiting period between rewards, select No limit from the drop-down.
Rewards history text
Your customers will see the points they earned in their Rewards History when they Tweet about your brand together with an explanation of what action they completed to receive them. The default Action text is set to Tweet about us. To change it, click in the Action text field and type in the text you want to appear in your customer’s rewards history.
Changing the name of your earning rule
You can change the name of this earning rule by clicking the edit icon next to it. In the case that you have more than one Tweet about us rule, you can change its name to help you differentiate between them.
- The way you choose to name your earning rule here is only for internal management purposes. Your customers will not see this.
- You can manage the way your earning rule is displayed to customers from the Rewards Page Builder module and Earning Points module
Activating your earning rule
Now that you’ve finished customizing your earning rule and are ready to activate it so that it’s available to customers, click the Save button on the top right.
Your Tweet about us earning rule is now live!
Managing the rule status
The rule status that is located next to the rule name tells you whether the rule is active on your site or not. If active, this means that the rule is running and customers are earning rewards.
You can deactivate the rule if you want to. If you choose to deactivate the earning rule, it will no longer appear on your store and customers will stop earning rewards from it.
