Why am I seeing a “Reconnect Your Shopify Store” banner?

If you see a banner in your Yotpo dashboard asking you to reconnect your Shopify store, it means we detected an issue with your Shopify connection. Specifically, Yotpo is missing valid credentials.

In most cases, this happens when:

  • The Yotpo app was uninstalled, or permissions were revoked.

  • Your Shopify store domain changed.

  • Required credentials, such as your Shopify token or shop domain, are missing.

When this happens, Yotpo cannot fully communicate with your Shopify store.

In this article, we’ll walk you through how Shopify token issues affect your Yotpo account and how to troubleshoot the connection.

How does this affect my account?

While the connection is broken, you may experience the following issues:

  1. Real-time sync is limited or broken

    • Yotpo cannot subscribe to new webhooks or reliably receive incoming events.

    • Some real-time data (orders, customers, etc.) may not appear or may be delayed.

    • In rare cases with duplicate domains, data might sync to the wrong Yotpo store.

  2. No access to historical/backfill data

    • Yotpo cannot fetch past data from Shopify because the domain or credentials are missing.

    • Any data backfills you initiate will fail until the connection is restored.

  3. Broken product links or features

    • URLs generated by Yotpo that rely on your store domain or data fields may not work.

    • Certain features that depend on a stable Shopify integration may stop functioning.

What should I do next?

To restore your Shopify connection, please follow these steps:

  1. Check your Shopify Admin

    1. Navigate to your Shopify Admin.

    2. Go to Apps and make sure the Yotpo app is installed and active for the product where you saw the banner.

    3. If you don’t see the app, it was uninstalled, or you’re unsure it’s working correctly, reinstall it from the Shopify App Store.

  2. Wait for automatic reconnection

    1. After the app is reinstalled and permissions are approved, Yotpo will automatically detect the new credentials.

    2. The banner will disappear within 24 hours once the connection is restored.

  3. Still seeing the banner? Contact Support

    1. If the issue persists after reinstalling the app, reach out to Yotpo Support and include your store name.
