Goals and Outcomes

Reassigning Reviews lets you move reviews from one product to another without losing review history or contacting Yotpo Support. This is useful when products are replaced, discontinued, archived, renamed, or reorganized in your catalog.

In this article, you'll learn when to reassign reviews, how to reassign reviews between products, and what happens after a reassignment is complete.

Feature Overview

Over time, your product catalog may change. Products can be renamed, replaced, archived, discontinued, or reorganized, leaving reviews associated with outdated products.

Reassigning Reviews lets you transfer all reviews from one product to another within the same store while preserving the original review data.

Once reassigned, reviews become associated with the target product and continue contributing to its review count and rating.

Before You Begin

Before reassigning reviews, keep the following in mind:

Important

All reviews associated with the source product move to the target product, leaving the source product with no reviews. If the target product already has reviews, all reviews will be managed as one set and cannot later be separated into their original product sets. Any future reassignment from the target product will move all reviews currently associated with it.

• If the target product belongs to a Group or Bundle, the reassigned reviews automatically become part of that Group or Bundle.

• Reviews can only be reassigned between products within the same store (app key).

• Stores using Internal Syndication are currently not supported.

• Stores that syndicate reviews to retailers are currently not supported.

• Reassignments are processed automatically after submission.

Reassigning Reviews

For each reassignment request, you'll select:

• Source product - The product currently associated with the reviews.

• Target product - The product that will receive the reassigned reviews.

Use the search field to locate products by product name, Yotpo product ID, external product ID, such as a Shopify product ID, or product URL.

1. Hover over the source product you would like to reassign reviews from.

2. Click on Reassign reviews to another product.

3. Select the target product from the drop-down menu.

4. If you need to reassign reviews for another product, click +Add product to reassign reviews from. You can add as many products as you need.

5. Once you are done, click Reassign reviews for [#] product(s) to confirm the reassignment.

6. Wait for the reassignment to finish processing. It is complete when the loading indicator changes to a final status, such as Done.

Tracking Reassignment Progress

After submitting the reassignment, you can track its progress at the top of the Product Catalog page.

• A loading indicator appears while the reassignment is processing. This usually takes a few seconds.

• Done means the reassignment was completed successfully.

• Failed means the reassignment couldn't be completed. Click Retry to try again.

Once the reassignment is complete:

• The target product's review count and rating are updated.

• The original review metadata is preserved.

Viewing Reassignment History

Click a product in the Product Catalog to open its Activity drawer and view its reassignment history.

Each activity entry shows:

• The number of reviews moved

• The target product

• The reassignment date

• The user who performed the reassignment

Searching Products

Use the search field on the Product Catalog page to find the product you want to reassign reviews from.

You can search by:

• Product name

• Yotpo product ID

• External product ID, such as a Shopify product ID

• Product URL

Limitations

Review Reassignment currently supports product-to-product reassignment within the same store.
