Configuring the Entered a Segment Trigger Settings
- DarkLight
The Entered a Segment flow trigger lets you send customized messages to customers when they join or leave a specific segment.
In this article, you’ll learn how to set up the Entered a Segment trigger settings.
How it works
The Entered a Segment flow allows you to send tailored messages to customers based on their segment activity. When a customer meets the requirements of a segment, they automatically become a member of that segment. Usually, segment updates are reflected in Yotpo SMS & Email within 24 hours.
After you select a segment, you can choose when to trigger the flow: on segment entry, exit, or both. If you select both entry and exit, the flow will have 2 branches: one for customers entering the segment and one for those leaving it. In this case, we recommend setting the Max flow entries per customer to 2. This means a customer will be notified when they enter the segment and if they exit it.
Configuring the Entered a Segment trigger settings
To configure the Entered a Segment trigger settings:
In your Yotpo SMS & Email main menu, go to Flows > My Flows and click Create flow.
Select the Entered a Segment trigger from the list of triggers.
In the Custom Trigger Options section, choose a segment and when to trigger the flow.
Tip:
You can click Preview segment rules to see a summary of the segment rules and make changes if necessary.
After you finish customizing the flow, click Save. You can find the flow on the My Flows page where you can access its analytics page, change its status, duplicate it, etc.
How changes to segments affect flows
When you make changes to segments used in flows, it can affect how your flows operate.
If you edit a segment’s rules, you will be notified if the segment is used in an Entered a Segment flow. Note that manual changes to rules which may result in automatically adding or removing a large number of customers from a segment will not trigger the flow. The flow will only be triggered for customers who enter or exit the segment organically, meaning by meeting the new segment rules.
If you decide to delete a segment used in a flow, the respective flow will be deactivated.
