Understanding the Email Editor
The Advanced Editor provides a drag-and-drop workspace where you can build and customize your email layout.
The main editor interface includes the Layouts panel, Blocks panel, email canvas, and style settings panel. The editor is built using two main elements: layouts and blocks. Layouts define the structure of the email, while blocks contain the content.
Note
Some system-generated placeholders may appear in the email preview. These values are automatically replaced with the correct data when the email is sent and do not require any action.
Layouts
Layouts define the structure of your email. They divide the email into rows and columns, allowing you to organize content before adding blocks.
Each layout contains one or more columns, where you can place blocks such as text, images, or buttons.
You can drag a layout into the email canvas and then add blocks inside each column.
Layouts allow you to create different column arrangements such as:
Layout | Description |
|---|---|
Single column | A full-width row used for elements such as banners, product blocks, or large images. |
Two columns | Splits the row into two equal sections for placing content side-by-side. |
Three columns | Divides the row into three sections for displaying multiple elements. |
Multi-column layouts | Provide additional column combinations for more complex email designs. |
After adding a layout, you can adjust the width of columns and customize spacing or background settings.
Blocks
On the left side of the editor, you’ll find the Blocks panel. Blocks allow you to add content to your review request email. Drag and drop blocks into the email canvas and customize their content and appearance.
Some blocks are specific to Yotpo review request emails, while others are standard content blocks used to build the email layout.
Some Yotpo blocks are included in the template by default and are required for the review request email to function properly.
Block | Description |
|---|---|
Yotpo-Specific Blocks | |
| Displays the review submission form where customers can rate the product and leave feedback. |
| Displays the image of the product being reviewed. |
| Automatically displays your store’s logo. |
Standard Content Blocks | |
| Allows you to add and format text content. |
| Adds an image to your email. |
| Adds a call-to-action button that links customers to your review page or another destination.
|
| Displays social media icons that link to your social channels. |
| Adds a horizontal navigation menu with links. |
| Allows you to display an image with optional overlay text. |
| Adds a video thumbnail that links to an external video. |
| Allows you to add custom HTML code to the email. |
| Adds space between elements to improve layout and readability. |
You can reorder sections by dragging a layout to a different position in the email canvas.

Customizing Your Review Request Email
The Advanced Email Editor allows you to customize your review request email in two main ways: by adjusting the overall styling of the email or by modifying individual elements within the layout.
Before you begin customizing your email, it’s important to understand how its structure works.
A typical email is composed of the following elements:
Element | Description |
|---|---|
Sections | The highest-level structural element in an email. Sections divide the email into major areas such as the header, body, and footer. |
Layouts | Layouts define how content is arranged within a section. A layout can contain one or more columns. |
Blocks | Blocks contain the actual content displayed in the email, such as text, images, buttons, or product information. |
A well-structured review request email typically includes three main sections:
Header – Contains branding elements such as the store logo.
Content (body) – Displays the main message, product information, and the review submission area.
Footer – Includes additional information such as store links or contact details.
To customize your email:
Drag a layout from the Layouts panel into the email canvas to define the structure of the section.
Drag blocks from the Blocks panel into the layout columns to add content such as text, images, or buttons.
Position the element by dragging it to the desired location. When the Drop here indicator appears, release it to place the element in the canvas.
Click any block in the canvas to edit its content or adjust its settings.
Use the right-hand styling panel to modify the overall appearance of your email, including fonts, colors, spacing, and button styles.
As you make changes, the editor updates the preview in real time so you can see how your review request email will appear to customers.
Using Personalization Tags
Personalization tags insert dynamic values such as the customer name or product name. These values are automatically populated when the email is sent.
To add a tag:
Click anywhere you want to insert the value.
From the right-hand menu, select the Personalization Tags drop-down.
Click on the tag you want to insert.
The tag will automatically populate with the relevant customer or product information when the email is sent.

Previewing and Testing Your Email
Before publishing your review request email, you can preview how it will appear to customers and send a test email.
Previewing Desktop and Mobile Versions
The editor allows you to preview how your email will appear on different devices.
To preview your email:
In the top toolbar of the editor, select Desktop or Mobile view.
Review how your email layout and content appear in each version.
This helps ensure your email is properly formatted and readable across devices.

Sending a Test Email
You can send a test email to verify how your message will appear in an inbox before activating it.
To send a test email, follow the instructions in this article.
Editing Multi-Language Emails
If your store supports multiple languages, you can customize the review request email for each language.
To edit a different language version:
In the Advanced Email Editor, open the language selector in the top-left corner of the screen.
Select the language you want to edit (for example French, German, or Spanish).
Customize the email content for that language.
Each language version can be edited independently.
If multilingual review emails are not enabled for your store, follow the instructions in Setting Up Multilingual Review Emails.
