Yotpo's Visual UGC Syndication helps you curate visual content more efficiently across multiple stores and domains by automatically duplicating and syncing visual content and product tags from one account to another. This includes the duplication of media from reviews, Instagram, onsite-uploads, and imported content.

In this article, you'll learn how to syndicate your visual content across multiple stores and/or domains.

    Why syndicate visual content

Syndicating visual content can be extremely helpful in the following cases:

    • If your store consists of multiple stores/domains, for example, localized domains for certain regions and locales and you want to manage all of your visual content collection and curation through one store without the need to perform redundant actions in each and every store. With Visual UGC Syndication activated, you may designate a main account and mirror all your actions to other accounts.
    • If your store consists of multiple domains and you wish to curate content from one primary domain and moderate and display different types of visual content in different domains.
    • If you're switching eCommerce platforms and wish to easily migrate visual content from your current platform over to the new one.

    Setting up Visual UGC Syndication

Visual UGC Syndication can only be configured with help from a Yotpo representative.  To learn more, please reach out to your Yotpo account representative/success manager.

    Syndication actions and behavior

When a syndicated pair is created between one (or more) accounts, visual content curated into Custom and/or Product Albums will be syndicated from the source account to the destination account regardless of the media source.

    Custom albums

    With Visual UGC syndication enabled:

    • Creating a custom album in the source account will create the same album in the destination account.
    • If a custom album with the same name already exists in the destination account, content will be merged into the existing album with the identical name.
    • All media will be syndicated from the custom album even if no product match is identified. In such cases, visual content will simply be syndicated without a product tag. Alternatively, you have the option to configure syndication to occur only if a product match is identified.
    • If the custom album is connected to an on-site gallery, visual content will automatically appear on-site within that gallery.

    Product albums

    With Visual UGC syndication enabled:

    • If the respective product exists within the destination account, but the product album does notexist, a product album for that product will be created automatically.
      • Visual content curated to this product album will automatically display on-site and within the relevant product gallery.
    • If the respective product does not exist in the destination account, a product album will not be created for that product. If no product match is identified, content will not be syndicated into any existing product albums.

    Visual UGC Syndication - FAQs

    Which images are NOT syndicated?

Images/videos are not syndicated in the following cases:

    • Images that were removed from Instagram
      • For example, if the original owner of the photo or video deleted the post from their Instagram account.
    • Unapproved images
      • These are images/videos you asked the original content owner for permission to use via the Ask Permission button. These images or videos won't be syndicated in cases where the original content owner declined permission or did not answer your Ask Permission request.
How is syndication done across multiple accounts?

If two accounts syndicate the same Instagram content to a destination account, the content will only appear once within your Visual Curation dashboard and within on-site widgets.

For example, if account A syndicates to account B, and account B syndicates to account C, syndication is only done for the original source content.

What happens if there are multiple albums with the same name (duplicates)?

In cases where there are albums with the same name, content will be merged into the existing album(s). No new album entity will be created.

What happens to visual content designated as "Favorite"?

If you've opted to mirror accounts, visual content marked as Favorite within the source account will carry over as a Favorite item in the destination account as well.

What happens when a syndicated pair is deleted?

When unpairing two accounts, you may choose whether to allow syndicated content that originated from the source to remain in the destination account, or whether to remove any previously syndicated content from the destination account altogether.

Once the pairing is undone, visual content will no longer be syndicated across those accounts.

Are Photos in Reviews also syndicated?

Yotpo's Photos in Reviews and Visual UGC are treated as entirely separate entities. However,  merchants with a Visual UGC subscription have the ability to curate Photos in Reviews into Visual UGC albums and galleries. In this case, Photos in Reviews that have been curated into Visual UGC albums will indeed be syndicated.

    Are galleries also duplicated on-site?

No, Visual UGC syndication does not create on-site galleries. Gallery creation requires the implementation of gallery snippets on-site and is therefore outside the scope of automated syndication actions.

Gallery creation is generally a one-time onboarding and deployment action that you'll need to manually set up across your stores. Once the initial gallery creation and setup is complete, you'll be able to assign albums to those galleries via Visual UGC syndication.
