Overflow for next purchase in goal spend" earning rule
- Enabling overflow for the next purchase
With points reward
If your "Goal Spend" earning rule is set to "Spend $100, Get 100 points", and the customer spent $250, the customer will receive 200 points - 100 points for each $100. The customer must then continue to accumulate more points from future purchases to be added to the remaining $50 until they reach $100 to qualify for another 100 loyalty points.
With a discount code reward
A customer cannot get more than one discount code per goal reached. If your "Goal Spend" earning rule is set to "Spend $100, Get a $30 discount code", and the customer spent $250, they will only get one discount code for $30. Each purchase can only have one discount associated with it.
The remaining $50, however, will start a counter for a new discount which they will receive once they reach $100 again.
- Disabling overflow for the next purchase
Disabling overflow for the next purchase means that a customer can only complete the "Goal Spend" earning rule once within a single purchase, regardless of the amount spent.
Examples:
a. If your "Goal Spend" earning rule was "Spend $100, Get 100 points", and the customer spent $250, the customer will only receive 100 points, and the rest of the purchase would be forgotten.
b. If a customer spent $99 out of the $100 needed for the earning rule, their next purchase will take into account $1 and complete the earning rule (rewarding the customer, but the rest of the spent amount will not be counted in any way).
This means that as long as the earning rule hasn't been completed, the next purchase will be counted towards completing the earning rule.
