        The Yotpo video review earning rule helps turn your customers into your best content creators. Showcasing authentic videos in reviews is a compelling way to bring your product to life and drive purchases.

        This article shows how to create a video review earning rule and how to customize every part of it.

        Creating the earning rule

        Shopify and Shopify Plus
        1. From your main menu, go to Set Up Program > Rewards Program. 
        2. Click on Create earning rule.
        3. Under Yotpo Reviews select Yotpo video review, then click Next.
        All other eCommerce platforms
        1. From your main menu, go to Set Up Program > Earning Rules. 
        2. Click on Create earning rule.
        3. Click Select on Yotpo video review.

        Customize your earning rule settings

        The Yotpo video review earning rule is highly customizable. Below is an overview of all the settings:

        These settings determine the behavior and functionality of your earning rule, but they are not customer-facing.

        • What kind of reward
          Choose either Points or Acoupon
        Points
        Coupon
        • Which coupon
          Choose which coupon the customer will get for completing this earning rule. You can choose from a list of your created coupons. How to create coupons
        This reward will be added on top of any other active review earning rule you have running (such as the "Yotpo Review" or "Yotpo Photo Review".)
        Default: Reward is given per video

        The reward value that you set (either Points or Acoupon) will be awarded per video. However, there are two options to regulate this:

        1. Time between rewards setting (below)
          Adding any waiting period will allow only one reward per waiting period
        2. Video Moderation setting (below)
          You may choose to reward only videos that you approve and publish
        • Video Moderation
          • Only reward published videos - this option will only issue the reward if and when you choose to publish it in Reviews.
          • Reward both published and unpublished videos this option will reward immediately when the customer uploads their videos, regardless of if you ever choose to publish them on your site.
        Un-publishing videos

        If you decide to un-publish videos, it will not deduct the reward from the customer

        • Time between rewards - This setting allows you to set a waiting period to limit how often a customer can receive this reward.
          • No limit: The customer will be given one reward per video uploaded. 
          • Any other waiting period: The customer will only get one reward per time period, regardless of how many videos they upload. The customer must wait out the specified waiting period and then complete the earning rule again in order to receive another reward.
        Time between rewards FAQ
        • Q: I have no time limit set, and a customer uploads 5 videos of the same product on the same review. What will happen?
          A: The customer will get 5 rewards*  The same is true if they upload 5 images of different products on different reviews. *Note this also depends on the "video moderation" setting.
        • Q: I set a time limit of 2 days, and I only reward for published videos. A customer uploads 5 videos at the same time and I publish all of them. How many rewards will they get?
          A: One. Regardless of how many videos are uploaded and published, they will only receive one reward during the set time limit. They must complete the waiting period and complete the earning rule again in order to receive another reward.
        • Q: I set no time limit and I only reward published videos. A customer uploads 5 videos and I publish 5 of them. How many rewards will they get?
          A: Five. Since there is no waiting period, they will receive one reward for each video you choose to publish.
        • Maximum Times Completed Per User
          This is the maximum total number of times a customer can receive this reward

        Storefront settings

        These settings let you control how the earning rule will appear onsite to your customers

        • Campaign Name - This is the name of the earning rule as it appears on the rewards pop-up or rewards page. By default, the name is set to "Leave a Review", you may change it according to your preference
        • Reward Text - The text that usually appears under the title and shows the customer what they will receive if they participate in the earning rule. The Rewards Text will also be reflected in the Rewards History

        Please note:
        If you make a change to the Reward Text field, don't forget to also update the How many points field. This will not be done automatically.
        • Description Text  - After the customer clicks on the earning rule, they will see a short 1-2 sentence description of the reward
        • Icon - By default, the video review icon is a camera, but you can also choose from hundreds of other options. Click “Use Font Awesome Icon Names” and copy and paste the icon name you want to use
        • Eligibility countdown message (days)  - If you set a “Time between rewards” limit, customers will see this countdown message "You're eligible to participate again in *|days|* days." The correct number of days will automatically populate.
        • Eligibility countdown message (hours) - If you set a Time between rewards” limit, customers will see this countdown message "You're eligible to participate again in *|hours|* hours."The correct number of hours will automatically populate.
        • Restrict to VIP tiers - This field will allow you to create an earning rule with specific rewards per VIP Tier
        • Display On-Site? - By default, this is toggled to "Yes", meaning that if you save this earning rule after creating/editing, it will be visible on your Rewards Page. Select "No" if you'd like to set up an earning rule that doesn't appear on your Rewards Page.
        • Schedule Campaign - This will allow you to run a special promotion for a limited period of time or a promotion that recurs daily, weekly, or monthly.
