Adding Products to Your Blocklist

Goals and Outcomes
Sometimes you may not want to generate reviews for products in your catalog, for example, to focus on relevant products or to optimize the use of your allocated review requests. Use the product blocklist to change the status at any time, without adding or removing products from your catalog.
Use cases include:
Sample products
Out-of-stock or discontinued product
Pre-orders
Seasonal products
New product IDs
In this article, you’ll learn how to blocklist products in your Yotpo catalog.
What Happens When You Add a Product to the Blocklist?
Automatic review request emails will not be sent for products on the blocklist from that point on.
Scheduled review request for products on your blocklist:
Scheduled automatic review request emails for blocklisted products that have been purchased before the item was added to the blocklist will not be sent out.
Products on the blocklist won’t be relevant for Promoted Products (widget & email), and Social Push
Reviews of products on the blocklist will not show in the Reviews Carousel, Reviews Tab, Dedicated Reviews Page, UGC Gallery, and Shoppable Instagram.
Reviews of products on the blocklist will not count towards the total number of reviews in the on-site reviews badge.
Tip
Targeted Product Review Requests can be sent out even if a product is on your blocklist. You can use this feature if you want to collect reviews for a product that is temporarily out of stock.
Adding a Product to Your Blocklist
Shopify Users

Adobe Commerce Users
You can add products to your blocklist through your Adobe Commerce admin. If you are managing your blocklist in Adobe Commerce, do not upload manually as this could cause a conflict.
Woocommerce, Bigcommerce & Generic Platform Users
To blocklist a product in your Yotpo product catalog, follow the steps below:
Export your current product catalog
Log in to your Yotpo account.
Click on the profile icon in the top-right corner and select Account Settings.
In the left-hand menu, click Product Catalog.
Navigate to the Update Products tab.
Check the box labeled Include products on blocklist.
Enter the email address where you'd like the exported catalog to be sent.
Click Send Catalog.
Note
It may take up to one hour for the catalog to arrive in your inbox.
Locate the product you want to blocklist
Open the file you received and search for the product you want to blocklist.Set the blocklist status
In the Blacklisted column, set the value to
TRUE
to blocklist the respective product.If you do not want to blocklist it, make sure the value is set to
FALSE
.
Notes
To add new products that are not yet in your product catalog to the blocklist, see Importing Product Catalogs.

Adding Grouped Products to Your Blocklist
Reviews for products on your blocklist will show in grouped products, but only those reviews that were collected prior to adding the product to the blocklist. The link for the product on the blocklist, however, will not be clickable.
New reviews for products on your blocklist will not appear for any of the grouped products. New reviews for other products in the group will likewise not appear on the product on your blocklist.
